Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Before starting this program I was desperate. I was so tired of being fat! I tried every fad diet out there. I was trying to get my insurance to cover the gastric bypass. My BMI was 37.9, my cholesterol was high, and I had sleep apnea. My doctor told me that I would have to be on the CPAP machine for 6 months, and if that didn’t help the sleep apnea then I could have the surgery. She also told me that if my BMI was 40 the surgery would be covered sooner. I only needed to gain 11 pounds to get my BMI to 40. I was so desperate that I was hiding snicker bars all over the house, and I went to my doctor appointment with an 8 pound weighted vest under my clothes. They didn’t weigh me that day! I spent three days crying, not just crying… balling. I was disgusted with myself.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
After my three days of crying, my Coach sent me another invite. I finally decided that I had to work for it. I cried some more when I messaged her back, and told her I was ready. I even cried on the way to my first fit club. I’m done crying! I knew my Coach from high school, and I saw how amazing she looks. She’s a real person that I’ve met. It worked for her, and I knew it would work for me. Not to mention, I have an amazing husband, and two teenage boys, that are very active. I’m tired of being the one slowing them down.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
The greatest challenge I faced before starting this program was my mental health. I was so depressed. I would actually get an anxiety attack when I dressed up, or put on makeup on and looked in the mirror. I wasn’t always fat, and I constantly dwell on my skinny pics, and the way I used to look. So, when I looked in the mirror, it was a reminder of who I wasn’t. This program helped me so much. Now, when I look in the mirror, I see the progress I’ve made in such a short period of time. I still have a long way to go before I get to where I want to be, but I have confidence that I will get there. I’m not depressed anymore. I’m off of my depression meds, and I don’t have to use the CPAP anymore. I sleep great. I have so much energy. I feel amazing, and sometimes my family has a hard time keeping up with me.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
For my first program, I chose the Brazil Butt Lift. I wanted to chose a fitness program that was at a beginner level, because I was really out of shape. I also had a tiny butt. I was big everywhere except my butt. It was so flat. I desperately wanted one. I also thought that the videos were fun. It was like dancing. Really sweaty dancing. After I finished Brazil Butt Lift, I moved on to LES MILLS COMBAT. I love COMBAT. I had so much fun with that program. It was a great workout, and I never got bored. After COMBAT I moved on to 21 Day Fix. I love the 30 minute workouts, and the meal planning. After 21 Day Fix, I decided to try the 3-Day Refresh. After the third day I felt so much energy.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I am amazed at the results I got from these programs. Not only is my butt much more shapely, I lost 57 pounds, and went from a size 18 to a size 10. I am so much stronger. I always wanted to be skinny. That’s all I focused on. Now I’ve realized I don’t just want to be skinny. I want to be strong. Being skinny doesn’t mean your in shape. I can do real pushups. I’ve never been able to do a real push up, and by real I mean not on my knees. I’m so happy.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I eat clean. I drink Shakeology daily. I haven’t been to a drive-thru in 6 months. I don’t miss it! I don’t have indigestion, heartburn, gas, or any other stomach issues for that matter. I have energy! I’m happy. Exercise is, and always will, be part of my daily routine. My clothes are too big instead of too small. I have confidence. I could go on for days. This is by far the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. It saved my life!
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
My Challenge Groups played a huge role in my success. I don’t think I would have had such amazing results without my Group. Everyone was so motivating and supportive. I didn’t want to let anyone see me fail, so I kept going. Not to mention the only way I was going to feel better about those before pics I posted was if I posted the after pics. There was a day when I posted a comment that I was feeling unmotivated, and I didn’t feel like working out. One of my group members sent me a message back that I said, ” I don’t feel like working out either, but lets push play together”. I got up, pushed play, and so did she. We both posted a sweaty pic, and went on with our day.
How did your Team Beachbody® Coach support you on your journey?
My Coach was, and is, amazing! She is always there if I have any questions. She always checks on me. She always writes encouraging comments. She found me at just the right time in my life. Thank you so much Rachel for helping me change my life. I hope one day I can run as fast, jump as high, and look as amazing as you do. You’re awesome! I said I was done crying…. I lied!
How did a Beachbody Supplement or Nutritional Product or Program (such as Shakeology® or Beachbody Ultimate Reset®) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, digestion/regularity?
I am addicted to Shakeology. Like I mentioned earlier, I have no more stomach issues. I have sustainable energy. The only real craving I have anymore is my Shakeology craving. I sleep through the whole night. That’s impressive to me. I used to wake up 5 to 10 times a night.
How did a Beachbody Supplement or Nutritional Product or Program affect any existing health conditions you have?
I haven’t been back to the doctor to check my cholesterol yet, but I am really anxious to see if I’ve lowered it. A few people in my Challenge Group had lowered cholesterol. I’m sure mine is lowered too.
